In 1950, Ford introduced a brand new Crestliner "sports sedan" — a 2-door sedan with two-tone paint job that was supposed togo head to head with Chevrolet's highly popular 1950 hardtop sedans. Also at this time another new name appeared. Country Squire, referring to the two-door wood-sided station wagon model came on the market. These station wagons were ahead of their time in one way. They had flat-folding middle seats, an innovation that was seen next in the 1990 minivans. Not much changed from 1940 to 1950 in terms of styling. One of the features that is very distinctive of this kind of car was the single central "bullet" in the frowning chrome grille. Also, in 1950, trim lines got renamed. The old "Standard" became the "Deluxe" and "Custom" was renamed "Custom Deluxe".
