Top Mistakes Made by People Posting Classic Car Classifieds

There are a lot of mistakes that people make when they are posting classified ads for classic cars online. The mistakes range from the very obvious to the not so obvious, and if you as a classic car seller want to sell your car, you want to keep a few things in mind when posting a classic car classified ad.
1. NOT INCLUDING A CONTACT PHONE NUMBER! – I tell you what this is the worst mistake that a classic auto seller can make in an online classified ad. Yeah you might be thinking, what about e-mail? Yes, technically leaving off any contact information is not a good idea, but most people who are classic car enthusiasts like to call first. Classic car collectors love to call sellers to get more details on the car that you’re selling. Believe me, they will call if you’ve got a good car and they will call often.
2. NOT EVEN DESCRIBING IN YOUR CAR – just posting the title of a car and a picture may get you some calls, but without a description the calls will be far and few between. You get what you put into your ad. People are very wary of classic car ads that have no details. It simply looks like an ad that is fake and somebody just slapped it up there. So spend that extra five minutes describing your car accurately which brings up my next point.
3. ACCURATELY DESCRIBE YOUR CAR, DON’T BRAG UNLESS YOU CAN BACK IT UP! – Unless your vintage, muscle, classic car is of excellent show car condition, in I’m talking about the upper 5% of cars in America, don’t go overboard in bragging about your car. This will tend to scare people away and those who actually show up to see the car may be less enthused to buy. So tell the truth about what you really have.
4. NOT HAVING ENOUGH GOOD PICTURES OF YOUR CAR – People like to see multiple pictures of a car before they even give you a call a lot of times. Pictures that are dark, out of focus, too bright, too small, etc. etc. will not capture the interest of online classic car buyers. My sure you have a good digital camera and that you take those pictures in full sunlight. I would recommend that you take the pictures at all angles of the car. I usually take pictures at every corner, down each side, in the front and back interior, the dash, the engine, and underneath. Also, don’t just take one picture of each angle, take two or three at least and choose the best picture. You will be glad you did once you get back to your computer to post your classic car ad.
5. NOT PRICING YOUR CAR RIGHT – This is where the rubber meets the road. This is where doing a little research on your vintage car’s value will pay dividends. You really do need to know what your car’s worth in relation to the condition of your car. You may even want to find a classic car appraiser who can certify the price range of your car as a trusted third party. When pricing your car you neither will to go too high or too low. Due to high on a selling price and you run the risk of scaring off potential buyers. One of the things that people do when when a price their collector cars a little high is that they add OBO which stands for “or best offer” and people understand that you are price in this car a little high and want to negotiate. Go too low and obviously you may live to regret it. So knowledge is power and I would say it I made a mistake in this area it would be to price it a little too high, never too low.

What is Classic Car Graveyard?

Just like humans when they die, classic cars are laid to rest in mass usually in what some people call classic car graveyards. What you may not realize however, is that classic cars are often left to rust away in similar places that some people call a Classic Car Graveyard. The old cars in a classic car graveyard are left to the elements and have some serious body issues by the time you usually find them, but there are often some good project cars to be had in a situation where a classic auto graveyard exists.
Some people spend a lot of time looking for these old car dumps, where cars have been resting for years. What is exiting to them is to see back in time at what can be found. It is like a classic car scavenger hunt and the finds can be interesting when you poke around in the old car graveyards left behind years ago.
There are videos showing those old cars on youtube you can view below. Most are generally so far gone that even the most ardent car restorers would have to say that they were too far gone. Too much rust and too little time. But there are tiems when you find old rusting cars that are still good enough to be restored. Just go to the owner of the land and request to buy what you want. It is like panning for gold. Check out the videos.
